Zach Ertz could solve a problem for the Carolina Panthers.

One of the main problem areas for the Carolina Panthers this season has been a lack of production from the tight end position. They took the difficult decision to part ways with veteran Greg Olsen after a sensational spell with the franchise. But the likes of Ian Thomas and Chris Manhertz haven’t been able to match his outstanding production.

This is something the Carolina Panthers need to address in the offseason. Whether this is with an exciting draft prospect or an established veteran is up for debate and it will be interesting to see which way the decision-makers go with a potential new recruit.

Another avenue the Panthers could explore is bringing in someone via trade. And one player, in particular, might be worth a closer look.

Zach Ertz is widely regarded as one of the NFL’s best pass-catching tight ends, when healthy. He has suffered his fair share of injury problems during the 2020 season, but providing he comes through games down the stretch then it is a possibility well worth considering.

The Eagles aren’t going anywhere fast. This appears to be a team in complete freefall led by a beleaguered head coach in Doug Peterson and a quarterback in Carson Wentz who looks devoid of any real confidence playing behind a porous offensive line.

As the old saying goes, the Panthers might just be able to strike while the iron is hot in this particular scenario.
