Mike Borgonzi

Mike Borgonzi had a promising career ahead of him before injury struck in college. But he has managed to gain a big reputation behind the scenes for the Kansas City Chiefs during their rise to prominence in recent years.

Making the step to general manager seems like the next step in Borgonzi’s career and the Carolina Panthers should have him high on their shortlist if Marty Hurney departs following the campaign. After his initial appointment as a college scouting administrator, he has secured six job promotions in the last decade.

This is a strong indicator of the esteem in which Borgonzi is held in Kansas City. And there is little doubt he has learned plenty from Scott Pioli on how to build a formidable roster capable of contending for championships.

Success breeds success.

And Borgonzi has achieved a substantial amount of late.

The Panthers might be an eye-catching destination for a new GM this offseason. They have some solid young pieces to build around, cap space to make additional moves, and their eventual record is probably going to come with a high-end 2021 NFL Draft pick to further sweeten the deal.
