Which Carolina Panthers players are on the hot seat at the bye?
It promises to be another offseason of huge importance for the Carolina Panthers. Head coach Matt Rhule will already be forming a plan regarding what improvements need to be made to get the organization back into realistic playoff contention, something that they haven’t been able to say with any real confidence in recent years.
Although the Carolina Panthers don’t have much to play for other than pride during the final quarter of the campaign. Plenty of players will be aiming to finish strongly to secure their respective futures with the franchise.
The Panthers possess some tremendous young pieces that are cornerstones of any future success that potentially comes their way in 2021 and beyond. However, there are also those who simply aren’t doing enough in big moments that are costing the team in a big way.
Let’s take a look at five Panthers players who find themselves on the hot seat at their Week 13 bye.
Player No. 1
Rasul Douglas – Carolina Panthers CB
After a hugely positive start to the season, Rasul Douglas has regressed of late. The Panthers have given the cornerback plenty of responsibility thanks to Donte Jackson’s toe injury, which has come with mixed success after their three-game winning run came to an abrupt halt.
If Douglas doesn’t finish the season strongly, it going to leave his future in doubt. He is out of contract this spring and Carolina might decide he was nothing more than a short-term fix to their depleted secondary in 2020.
There is a lot riding on the remaining four games for Douglas, who might be looking over his shoulder if things continue trending in the wrong direction.
