5 Carolina Panthers players on the hot seat at the Week 13 bye

John Miller – Carolina Panthers OG
Another who might just be fighting for his future over the last quarter of the campaign is John Miller. The offensive lineman has done well on occasions without ever really standing out. But what comes next will ultimately come down to the player and how he performs after some much-needed rest at the bye.
The Carolina Panthers will no doubt look to strengthen their interior protection during the offseason, which sees players like Miller, Chris Reed, and Matt Paradis all nervously awaiting the front office’s decisions in the offseason.
They need to get better in this area, it’s as simple as that.
And there is no room for sentiment in today’s NFL when it comes to roster building.
Miller was a short-term fix who might end up getting a longer-term commitment from the Panthers. However, his pass protection hasn’t been up to standard and the exceptional play of right tackle Taylor Moton has masked these failing somewhat.
He has given up two sacks and four penalties from 645 snaps this season. This has resulted in Pro Football Focus allocating a 61.7 grade to Miller for his level of production in 2020, which indicates the player has much to do in order to extend his stay in Carolina beyond the current campaign.
