Why haven’t the Carolina Panthers paid Taylor Moton yet?
It’s clear that the Carolina Panthers have one of the best in the business at right tackle. Taylor Moton has been at the top of his game during the 2020 season, which just so happens to coincide with a contract year.
It seems like a no brainer for the Carolina Panthers to give Moton whatever he wants regarding a new deal. He is the type of player that you can build a successful franchise around and this should be one of the team’s top priorities in the coming weeks.
However, things might not be that cut and dried.
According to Joe Person of The Athletic, no discussions have taken place between Moton and the Panthers. This is mildly concerning regarding a player they should look to by tying down at the earliest possible opportunity.
And as the old saying goes.
The more you wait, the more you pay.
One could argue that letting Moton even test the free-agent market is ground for the instant dismissal of general manager Marty Hurney. Carolina doesn’t tend to start negotiations with their star players until after competitive action concludes. But this has the potential to throw a spanner in what is a hugely important offseason period in 2021.
