Cam Newton is winning by any means necessary.

The 2020 season was always about redemption for Cam Newton. Once considered as the NFL’s most dynamic playmakers under center, the 2015 MVP was sent to the free-agent scrapheap by the Carolina Panthers at a time when it appeared getting a starting role elsewhere appeared slim.

However, Cam Newton is made of strong stuff.

And the New England Patriots are reaping the benefits.

After signing a bargain-basement deal to join Bill Belichick that included just $500,000 guaranteed, Newton has New England right back in playoff contention despite a host of COVID-19 opt-outs and a supporting cast that played a leading role in perennial Super Bowl-winner Tom Brady deciding to take his chances elsewhere to end his two-decade association with the franchise.

A bad workman always blames his tools.

But Newton is taking it upon himself to make the most out of a second chance.

The quarterback’s talent was there for all to see during an eye-catching 45-0 win for the Patriots at the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 13. Newton might not be getting much yardage through the air, but his game is about so much more than that.

Considering how things are currently trending in Carolina, it’s hard for large sections of the team’s fanbase to not look at a player they once idolized and not feel he should’ve been given another shot under the new regime.
