Efe Obada – Carolina Panthers DL

Efe Obada has come to life in recent weeks. This is a remarkable turnaround from a player that the Carolina Panthers waived earlier in the campaign and there should be another big chance for the defensive lineman to step up and make a real difference against the Broncos.

The Carolina Panthers might be without three starting players on their defensive front if Derrick Brown, Zach Kerr, and Yetur Gross-Matos don’t come off the reserve/COVID-19 list in time. Obada has been a prominent member of the rotation of late and this would undoubtedly come with a starting spot in Week 14 on the edge or on the interior.

There is a chance the Panthers could use him at both positions depending on how the game goes. Obada has generated some impressive pressure from the defensive tackle spot that has seldom been seen in Carolina this season. But his presence on the outside with Gross-Matos and Stephen Weatherly out would also be welcome.

Having this sort of versatility is something that really benefits the Panthers and one of the major reasons why Obada is still on the team.

However, if he wants to extend his stay with the organization beyond this season then he has to prove capable of slotting into a starting role without much of a drop-off in production.
