5 possible replacements if the Panthers let Curtis Samuel walk in 2021
By Dean Jones
Rondale Moore – Purdue
Another possible avenue the Carolina Panthers could go down if Curtis Samuel departs in free agency is bringing in another exciting young player in the 2021 NFL Draft. Other pressing needs elsewhere might make it difficult to justify their first couple of picks on the position. But someone like Rondale Moore might be in play in the mid-rounds.
Moore has been an absolute revelation at Purdue and his aggressive style of play enables him to put up some lofty numbers after the catch. He is physical and elusive in equal measure and seems tailor-made to become a prolific slot receiver at the next level in the right sort of environment.
The wideout has only played three games this season as COVID-19 continues to cause havoc across the college football campaign. Moore has 302 all-purpose yards and a touchdown to show for his efforts in 2020, with the player sure to stand out considerably during the evaluation process.
Losing Samuel would be a body blow for the Panthers. But if they could acquire someone like Moore it would soften this in no uncertain terms.
There are some teething problems that come with relying heavily on rookie receivers. However, one only has to look at the impact this year’s class has had to see what Moore might be able to bring to Carolina.
