Mike Davis will have his best game of the season.

Mike Davis will be a key player in the opportunity to take advantage of another Broncos weakness. Denver allows 131.5 rushing yards per game so the Carolina Panthers should let the offense flow through him.

If that’s not compelling enough, consider that Davis got at least 21 touches in all of the four Panthers wins this season.

Whether it’s as a runner or receiving out of the backfield, when Davis reaches that magic number, the Panthers win more often than not and this is an area that can be exploited despite Denver’s strength on defense overall.

Sunday’s game has a chance to be Davis’ best by a few different metrics.

He hasn’t surpassed 100 yards rushing in a game yet and he hasn’t had a multiple touchdown game. In fact, Davis has only scored one touchdown in the last six games, something I’m sure he’d like to put in the rearview mirror with a stellar performance against Denver.

Let’s also root for a good performance from Davis because running the ball effectively usually leads to better production in the passing game. Throughout the season, Robby Anderson has clearly been better when the Panthers can run the football and Carolina needs him more than ever with D.J. Moore set to miss out.

Anderson had his best games in Week’s 2, 4, 5, and 9, on days when Davis or Christian McCaffrey were very productive on the ground. Sunday could be quite a good afternoon for the Panthers’ playmakers.
