The Carolina Panthers will have the lead at halftime.

This bold prediction is very attainable but more important than one may realize. The Carolina Panthers have been front-runners this season, as shown by the inability to complete comebacks on multiple occasions.

Since 2018, Carolina is 14-5 when leading at halftime and 0-22 when trailing or tied.

We’ve covered two Broncos weaknesses the Panthers can take advantage of. But here’s one more way the home team can ensure they lead after the first two quarters and eventually win the game.

Denver has been terrible at converting third downs on offense (ranked 28th) and the Panthers’ defense is even worse (ranked 31st) at getting off the field.

Something has to give. Getting third-down stops and forcing turnovers early in the game will set the tone for the afternoon and would undoubtedly put Carolina in an incredibly strong position.

The Broncos also have two talented running backs, Melvin Gordon and Phillip Lindsay, that shouldn’t be taken lightly. Snuffing out the run on early downs and forcing Drew Lock to win as a passer is a key here.

Match that with long, methodical, clock-eating drives on offense, and the Panthers should be in prime position to keep the lead through the half and win the game.
