D.J. Moore – Carolina Panthers WR

D.J. Moore has more than proven his worth as an essential part of the Carolina Panthers and their long-term plans. The 2018 first-round pick out of Maryland has been all the organization hoped for during his first three years in the league and there is every chance he could get even better moving forward.

Although Moore has suffered some chemistry issues with quarterback Teddy Bridgewater in 2020, he is still rapidly approaching the 1,000-yard receiving mark once again and should reach that milestone providing he doesn’t miss any more time down the stretch.

His route-running has come on a substantial amount this season and having Robby Anderson taking away attention on the opposite side of the field is another big benefit that shouldn’t be overlooked.

Carolina gave Christian McCaffrey a record-breaking contract after his third year in the league. While it is unrealistic for Moore to do the same, his consistency and high level of play should ensure an extension isn’t too long in the offing.

The Panthers will obviously exercise their fifth-year option on Moore. Buty giving him a big pay rise this spring might be difficult due to the salary cap staying the same or even coming down due to the loss of revenue relating to COVID-19.

Moore has a rare ability to impact the passing game all over the field. Losing Curtis Samuel this offseason would only strengthen his position at the bargaining table and this is something the Panthers need to sort out sooner rather than later.
