4 Panthers players who have regressed in 2020 after promising starts
By Dean Jones
Rasul Douglas – Carolina Panthers CB
Rasul Douglas began the 2020 season in fine form. The cornerback was brought in off the waiver wire by the Carolina Panthers after being cut by the Philadelphia Eagles when it was time to decide their 53-man roster and his immediate impact was more than welcome given the team’s relative lack of depth at the position.
However, there is plenty to suggest that Douglas is another that is fighting for his future in Carolina. His level of production hasn’t even up to the required standard of late and the former West Virginia star was torched by Denver’s promising rookie KJ Hamler for two scores in their Week 14 loss.
Not exactly the best way to start a pivotal few games for Douglas.
Nobody will know more is expected than Douglas himself. He is definitely capable if the player’s exploits earlier in the campaign are any indication. But the Panthers will found out plenty about his resolve with two outstanding passing attacks still to come on the schedule.
Confidence is a big factor when it comes to cornerbacks. Just how much Douglas has been knocked in recent weeks is uncertain and what comes next will ultimately come down to the player with even more on the line.
