4 sneaky threats for the Panthers to watch at Packers
By Dean Jones
Which sneaky threats should the Carolina Panthers watch out for at the Packers?
Everything has to go right for the Carolina Panthers if they want to pull off a major upset in Week 15. Their game at the Green Bay Packers is one that isn’t expected to come with a fifth win of the campaign. But being on the national stage on Saturday Night Football might result in an increased level of production from a team that can play with nothing in the way of expectations on their shoulders.
That, of course, is easier said than done. The Packers are a relentless machine that is set to go close in the postseason once again and this promises to be a stern test for the Carolina Panthers with confidence probably lower than it has been all season following their disappointing loss to the Denver Broncos.
All the Panthers can do is show improvements and hope for the best. They would need to catch Green Bay on a rare off day to emerge victoriously and controlling the clock is going to be pivotal from the first minute to the last.
We all know about the stars in Green Bay. But here are four sneaky threats that the Panthers need to worry about this weekend.
Player No. 1
Kamal Martin – LB
The Packers appear to have found a real diamond in Kamal Martin. Not much was expected of the fifth-round pick coming into the campaign. But the former Minnesota standout has carved out a prominent role for himself that makes him a player to watch carefully on Green Bay’s defense.
Martin excels in coverage and he the speed to get himself to the point of attack quickly. His encouraging start to life at the next level is further reflected in his 74.9 grade from Pro Football Focus and there appears to be some real momentum building with the rookie at a crucial stage of the season.
