John Miller – Carolina Panthers OG

John Miller‘s concerning regression over recent weeks is something that was evident once again at the Packers. The offensive lineman struggled throughout the contest and it has raised even more doubts about whether the Carolina Panthers are going to keep him around beyond this season.

Perhaps the wear and tear of playing so many snaps during the campaign have taken their toll. But the simple fact of the matter is that Carolina’s interior protection has been a real weak link and once again crumbled on a crucial final drive that could have tied things up for the Panthers.

Carolina coveted Miller heavily in free agency as the man to replace Trai Turner, who was traded to the Los Angeles Chargers in exchange for Pro Bowl left tackle Russell Okung. His performances during the early part of the season left plenty of reasons to be encouraged but it’s hard to deny that this is a trend that simply hasn’t continued during the second half of the campaign.

Miller might find himself on the free-agent scrapheap once again this spring if some remarkable improvements aren’t made over the next two games.

However – in all honesty – the coaching staff has probably already made their mind up and Miller can have absolutely no complaints if he is moved on when competitive action concludes.
