Derrick Brown – Carolina Panthers DT

This was a coming-out party for Derrick Brown.

And one that resulted in his finest performance of the 2020 season.

The Carolina Panthers placed a lot of faith in Brown when they selected him at No. 7 overall. Although he has taken time to adjust to the rigors of the NFL, his level of production has improved dramatically in recent weeks.

The defensive tackle was a relentless force at the Packers and picked up a notable milestone with his first sack at the next level to further enhance his overall influence.

Brown was nothing short of monstrous after the break on his way to three tackles, two sacks, and two tackles for loss. He was a constant menace against a Green Bay offensive front that is arguably the NFL’s best and it was yet further proof that the Panthers made the right call by taking the Auburn product over Isaiah Simmons.

The work Brown puts in that doesn’t show up on the stat sheet is another tremendous asset that shouldn’t be overlooked.

Carolina has its interior force for the next decade providing there are no complications with the first-round pick’s health. If Brown can finish the campaign on a high note over the next fortnight, there will be plenty to like about his chances of making an even bigger impact next time around with a less disruptive offseason under his belt.
