4 biggest Pro Bowl snubs on the Panthers 2020 roster
By Dean Jones
Brian Burns – Carolina Panthers DE
Brian Burns not being in the 2020 Pro Bowl is an outrage.
The defensive end has been a revelation for the Carolina Panthers throughout the campaign and considering who the selectors chose to occupy positions ahead of him, it represents further proof of just what a flawed system it’s become.
Burns might be on a losing team.
But the man is a winner.
He has had little in the way of help around him this season. Carolina suffered significant problems generating pressure for large parts of 2020 and although things seem to be improving dramatically in this area, it’s hard to gauge just what their overall stats would look like had it not been for Burns’ exceptional contribution.
The former Florida State star has eight sacks, 20 quarterback hits, seven tackles for loss, 56 tackles, three forced fumbles, three passes defended, and a phenomenal 34 pressures this season. Burns demonstrates the sort of explosiveness off the edge that gets fans off their seats and he deserved an endless amount of credit for some noticeable improvements made during the offseason.
A Pro Bowl snub this year will be another high motivator for Burns as he looks to reach even greater heights in 2021.
Great news for the Panthers. But it should strike fear into every offensive lineman who’ll have the unfortunate task of trying to stop him next season.
