Donte Jackson – Carolina Panthers CB

Although the jury might be out as to whether Donte Jackson is a true No. 1 cornerback, his performances since the bye week have been really encouraging.

The former second-round selection came into the season with plenty of expectations after the Carolina Panthers decided to let James Bradberry walk. But his bid to impress was significantly hampered by a toe injury that clearly impacted his ability to contribute in the manner expected.

Jackson has shown some real signs of life over the last fortnight, which won’t have gone unnoticed by the coaching staff. There is still much work to be done if he wants to be considered as a reliable shutdown corner and we’ll probably know more about what to expect from the LSU product next season, which is the final year of his rookie deal.

Everything is there for Jackson to succeed from a talent perspective.

He just needs a little bit of luck to make the most out of his outstanding skill set.

Marty Hurney cannot be faulted for many of his high-end NFL Draft picks over the years. And there is every chance Jackson becomes a prolific presence entering his prime if the player manages to stay injury-free.
