5 grave errors that cost Marty Hurney his job with the Panthers

Letting James Bradberry walk
The Carolina Panthers would probably like to have their decision to let James Bradberry walk in free agency back, to put it mildly. The stud cornerback signed a big-money deal with the New York Giants and has turned in the sort of production in 2020 that is up there with anybody at the position.
Another critical error from Marty Hurney.
Bradberry has been nothing short of a revelation in New York, emerging as one of the league’s best cover corners. Carolina waited too long before negotiations began with their former second-round pick that allowed him to test the free-agent market.
And the rest is history.
The Panthers haven’t had much in the way of notable production from their cornerback unit, although Donte Jackson, Corn Elder, and Rasul Douglas have all had some nice moments throughout the campaign for a defense that has grown steadily in stature as the season’s gone on.
However, this pales in comparison to what we’ve seen from Bradberry this season and the Panthers made a big mistake in not giving the player what he wanted to stay around in the first place before being priced-out once another offer came in.
