Panthers at Washington: Prediction, best bets and what to expect
By Dean Jones
Can the Carolina Panthers get one over on former head coach Ron Rivera?
We are now just two games away from what has been an eventful 2020 season for the Carolina Panthers. It’s been the rollercoaster everybody expected after a host of changes during the offseason and although they’ve suffered more than their fair share of close losses, the organization will get a high-end 2021 NFL Draft pick once again.
There are plenty of Carolina Panthers players fighting for their future over the next two games, so they won’t be found wanting for effort. However, one has to wonder just what they’ll gain by winning any of their next two games in the grand scheme of things.
Head coach Matt Rhule won’t want his roster to go out on a whimper.
The former Baylor man has endured a baptism of fire during his first season in the NFL and although few would argue he isn’t the right person for the job, significant reinforcements are needed to get Carolina to the next level.
There is a lot of pride on the line in Week 16 as the Panthers travel to the Washington Football Team for a reunion with Ron Rivera, who was fired a little more than a year ago by Carolina. It’s been an emotional campaign for the respected figure after cancer treatment during the season. But he somehow has his team in pole position for a playoff spot in the dismal NFC East.
The Panthers will not want to give Rivera a leg-up as he looks to reach the postseason. Here is what to expect, how to watch, best bets, and a score prediction for Carolina’s final road game that has now been flexed to 4.05 PM.
