Zach Kerr vs. Brandon Scherff

Zach Kerr has been activated off the reserve/COVID-19 list and looks set to play a major role for the Carolina Panthers in Week 16. The defensive tackle has been one of the pleasant surprises for Matt Rhule’s men throughout the campaign after coming in for Kawann Short and a strong end to the season over the next two games would do his chances of being the starter alongside Derrick Brown in 2021 the world of good.

Kerr might miss a play or two from the outset after being part of the social gathering between players away from the team facility during the bye week. But he should come into the contest with a big point to prove after letting his coach down with a distinct lack of judgment.

The former Delaware standout will be tasked with overcoming Brandon Scherff, who is one of the league’s best guards when firing on all cylinders and is looking to further boost his claims for a big-money deal next spring.

Scherff has conceded two sacks and two penalties from 703 snaps in 2020. This has also come with an exceptional 83.5 grade from Pro Football Focus and it’s going to be a stiff test for Kerr after missing the last fortnight of competitive action.

There are some big questions at the quarterback spot for Washington. And with Brian Burns set to miss the contest through injury, others need to step up and generate pressure in his absence.
