4 Washington players the Panthers should be concerned about
By Dean Jones
Logan Thomas – TE
The story surrounding Logan Thomas is an inspirational one and proof that a diamond in the rough can be found almost anywhere. After initially coming into the NFL as a quarterback out of West Virginia, it became clear that he was never going to make it as a signal-caller at the next level and found himself facing career uncertainty after bouncing around the league without much success.
However, moving to a tight end with the Detroit Lions last season has been the making of Thomas, who has thrived even further since moving to Washington earlier this year.
Thomas has been a huge part of their passing attack and developed a real nous for coming up with big catches in critical moments of games. This has resulted in 570 receiving yards and five touchdowns from 62 receptions, bringing in 68.2 percent of balls thrown his way.
The Carolina Panthers have gotten better covering tight ends as the season’s gone on. But they will still need to treat the threat posed by Thomas with the utmost respect.
The player’s ability to get open quickly has been a tremendous asset for Washington to call upon throughout the campaign, which should result in Thomas getting plenty of targets thrown his way in Week 16 if stud wide receiver Terry McLaurin is unable to take his place in the lineup.
