J.D. McKissic – RB

There appears to be some doubt about the availability of Antonio Gibson once again. The rookie running back is listed as doubtful for Washington against the Carolina Panthers and although he might suit up, just how much he will be able to impact the contest remains to be seen.

J.D. McKissic has made the most out of a more prolonged role in 2020. The former Arkansas State standout is averaging 4.4 yards-per-carry and has proven to be a real dual-threat who can make an impression either running the ball or in the passing game.

McKissic has 832 all-purpose yards to show from his contribution this season. This has come on just six starts and if the Panthers let the player get into open space, it could be a long afternoon.

Carolina’s run defense has been much improved throughout the campaign and considering the problems Washington is currently facing with their quarterback situation, it would be a huge surprise if McKissic didn’t see a ton of work to take some of the pressure off either Alex Smith or Dwayne Haskins.

This has been the best season of McKissic’s career by a considerable margin. He was used more as a role player during his time with the Seahawks and Lions. But his outstanding production indicates he might just be ready for more responsibility.
