Players like Cam Sims need to step up and make their presence felt if McLaurin is unable to go. The former Alabama star has taken his time to make the necessary adjustments to thrive at the next level. But it is clear that he represents a good fit for Washington’s offense.
Sims can be dynamic in space and can line up either on the outside or in the slot with equal effect. He has brought in 24 receptions from 34 targets this season on his way to 371 receiving yards and a score, which also comes with a lofty yards-per-catch average of 15.5.
The wideout was targeted eight times last weekend and this is a trend that should continue if McLaurin missed the game. Sims will need to become part of the gameplan in this eventuality due to his ability to make big plays in crucial situations. So it’s a sneaky threat that the Carolina Panthers need to keep a close eye on as they go in search of their fifth victory of the season.
