Teddy Bridgewater – Carolina Panthers QB

The comical performance of Washington’s beleaguered quarterback Dwayne Haskins perhaps overshadowed another disappointing outing overall from Teddy Bridgewater. The Carolina Panthers clearly have a big decision to make regarding their signal-caller in 2021 and it remains to be seen whether or not the decision-makers will pull the trigger on a potential long-term replacement in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Bridgewater’s nerves are there for all to see. He fumbled the ball twice, losing one thanks to superb reactions from D.J. Moore, and things might have been far worse had former Panthers head coach Ron Rivera gone with Taylor Heinicke a little sooner rather than stick with Haskins.

The free-agent signing completed 67.8 percent of his passes for 197 passing yards, one touchdown, and an interception. Bridgewater was sacked four times for a total loss of 30 yards and emerged from the game with a QBR of 52.7.

Not exactly a standout audition to keep his job.

Carolina’s defense managed to bail Bridgewater out, which has been the story of the second half of the season. There were some nice moments, for sure. But the jury is still well and truly out regarding his ability to lead the Panthers back into postseason contention.
