Mitchell Trubisky – Chicago Bears

Mitchell Trubisky‘s career will always be tied to Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson. The former No. 2 overall selection was taken ahead of both quarterbacks in the draft and it is clear that if the Chicago Bears had the chance to do it all again, they would go in a different direction.

It has been another rollercoaster campaign for Trubisky, who was benched in favor of Nick Foles earlier in the campaign before winning back the job down the stretch. This has coincided with a stark turnaround in form for the Bears, who now have a potential playoff spot in the palm of their grasp if they come through in Week 17.

Trubisky’s fifth-year option wasn’t picked up by Chicago, meaning he’ll be a free agent after this season. There still appears to be some doubt regarding his future despite the Bears’ recent resurgence and providing the price is right, it might be worth the Carolina Panthers taking a close look at the player with a view to competing with Teddy Bridgewater during training camp.

Whether Trubisky would want to accept a backup role at this stage of his career is up for debate.

But he might not have a choice.

Much will depend on how Trubisky and the Bears get on over the next couple of weeks. However, a change of scenery might do him good given how inconsistent he’s been so far.
