Teddy Bridgewater – Carolina Panthers QB

Teddy Bridgewater has Dwayne Haskins to thank for not getting much criticism this week. The Carolina Panthers may have beaten the Washington Football Team last time out, but it was another less than stellar performance from a quarterback that is coming under even more pressure.

The time for Bridgewater to convince people he is the man to take the Panthers forward is fast running out.

And for some, he has probably already passed the point of no return.

Another eye-catching performance against the Saints would at least give the player some momentum heading into the offseason. A victory for Carolina would also jeopardize their chances of a top-10 NFL Draft pick, which would almost certainly rule out taking a signal-caller with their opening selection.

There is little doubt that the Panthers might bring in reinforcements in this area, with the team recently linked with Haskins following his release by Washington. Bridgewater is under the microscope, to put it mildly, and he has more riding on the final game of the campaign than most.

In truth, the signal-caller may have already forced Carolina’s hand in their quest for a long-term replacement for Cam Newton. Bridgewater’s contract might ensure he gets the starting job at the start of next season. But there will be a more threatening alternative waiting in the wings if things continue to go south.
