4 dream candidates for the Panthers’ vacant QB coach job
By Dean Jones
Brandon Streeter
Brandon Streeter might just be a hot commodity for a bigger job than this one. But if he is available and willing to consider then the Carolina Panthers would be wise to put in a call.
Streeter has been part of Clemson’s coaching staff since 2015, working as a quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator during this time. He is responsible for bringing forward the talent of Deshaun Watson, who is currently lighting up the NFL with the Houston Texans and just put together arguably the greatest season that nobody will ever remember.
His efforts with Trevor Lawrence won’t have gone unnoticed, either.
Lawrence is the consensus No. 1 overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft despite Justin Fields outplaying him in the college football playoff last weekend. Streeter deserves a tremendous amount of credit for harnessing both signal-callers into the players they are today and even though this might be something of a long shot, the widely respected figure would bring a significant amount to the position.
It would take a big offer with a view to promotion sooner rather than later. But the prospect of Streeter either working to improve Teddy Bridgewater or developing a quarterback prospect drafted this year is an enticing one.
