Carolina Panthers sign Haason Reddick

  •  one year, $8.5 million fully guaranteed at signing.

The Carolina Panthers aren’t too far away from having a superb defense. Some additional pieces this offseason could help them achieve their objectives and when the decision-makers identify potential targets, then Haason Reddick should be high on the shortlist.

Pro Football Focus ranks Reddick at No. 87 on their free-agent list after a sensational 2020 season that was easily the best of his career. The outside linebacker proved to be a real threat in opposing backfields on his way to 12.5 sacks – five of which came in one contest at the New York Giants in Week 14.

Reddick is no stranger to the coaching staff in Carolina having worked with them at Temple.

So this move makes a ton of sense.

Should the Panthers be able to get Reddick, it would allow them to move rookie sensation Jeremy Chinn back to his preferred position of safety, providing Shaq Thompson is kept around ahead of his substantial pay increase in 2021.

Matt Rhule has relied heavily on his former college players during his first year in the league. But it’s come with mixed success.
