How would Samuel fit on the Jaguars?

The Jacksonville Jaguars may have had the NFL’s worst record in 2020. But they were clearly a project that Urban Meyer thought he could turn around.

They have a plethora of 2021 NFL Draft picks – including the No. 1 overall selection – in addition to the league’s biggest amount to spend from a salary-cap perspective and some young, exciting players from which to build around.

Jacksonville unearthed a real diamond at the running back position in James Robinson, who somehow went undrafted last spring before taking the NFL by storm during his rookie campaign. Wide receiver DJ Chark Jr. is another who has shown a significant amount of promise and they’ll have a potential franchise-changing quarterback under center in 2021 if they take Clemson Trevor Lawrence as expected.

Potentially adding Curtis Samuel would give their offensive another explosive weapon who has proven production. His efforts in 2020 saw his stock go through the roof and although others will undoubtedly be queuing up to make him an offer if the Carolina Panthers let him test the market, reuniting with Meyer at the pro level would be hard to turn down.

Samuel worked with Meyer from 2014-16 and thrived under the head coach on his way to 2,535 all-purpose yards and 24 touchdowns. Getting Lawrence as many dynamic playmakers as possible to ease his transition to the next level is going to be crucial. So the Panthers should be extremely concerned about these latest developments in Florida if they intend on trying to keep him around.
