4 Panthers players former GM Marty Hurney could take to Washington

Efe Obada – Carolina Panthers DL
Efe Obada‘s emergence from a feel-good story to a ferocious defensive lineman is now complete. It was another eventful campaign for the Nigerian-born player, who found himself going to the waiver wire before being re-signed and making an eye-catching contribution down the stretch.
The decision to waive Obada and immediately bring him onto their practice squad was a “calculated risk“, according to Marty Hurney. But considering what he showed both from the edge and as a three-technique defensive tackle, it might see the player become a hot commodity if he is allowed to test the free-agent market.
Washington has an exceptional defensive front. But they might be losing experienced veteran Ryan Kerrigan this offseason and some more depth will be needed if this eventuality comes to fruition.
Ron Rivera was a huge fan of Obada’s from the word go.
As was Hurney.
Obada is probably eternally grateful to both for giving him a chance to prove himself in the NFL with little experience. Considering the lineman’s stock has never been higher, it might place Carolina’s hopes of keeping him around as slim if a big offer is made with the promise of extended playing time elsewhere.
