4 QB trade targets for the Panthers not named Deshaun Watson

Marcus Mariota – Las Vegas Raiders
Marcus Mariota hasn’t had the best of luck during his time in the NFL. His injury problems and lack of production with the Tennessee Titans was there for all to see, but there could be a trade market for the quarterback this offseason after one season as a primary backup with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Mariota showed the right sort of temperament under Jon Gruden to make a smooth adjustment to a No. 2. Couple this with an eye-catching performance during his one start deputizing for Derek Carr and the move might have reinvigorated a career that was hanging in the balance at one stage.
This would be a bit of a wildcard for the Carolina Panthers if they chose to go in this particular direction. But Mariota has one year remaining on his current deal and if things don’t want out, he could be moved on with no financial repercussions.
The former Oregon standout has shown flashes of brilliance throughout his career. If the Panthers are looking for some additional competition for Teddy Bridgewater this offseason and Mariota is available at the right price, then they’d be foolish not to at least consider the possibility.
Moving from a No. 1 to a backup is a humbling experience for any quarterback. However, it might have actually done Mariota some good as he looks for a second chance to shine under center.
