It would be a huge surprise if the Carolina Panthers managed to keep hold of Curtis Samuel this offseason. The do-it-all wide receiver is sure to command the sort of contract that the organization cannot afford with the cap coming down, so alternative options need to be sought in a bid to keep the offense moving in the right direction.

This might come with a couple of college recruits – either during the draft or in the free agency period that follows – but a rotational piece like Demarcus Robinson of the Kansas City Chiefs might be tempted for a move away from the Super Bowl champions with the promise of more in the way of targets elsewhere.

Robinson boasts an impressive 76.1 percent catch success rate on 59 targets this season. He has benefitted considerably from other prominent playmakers generating most of the attention in the passing game, recording 45 receptions for 455 receiving yards and three touchdowns in the process.

Not bad for a player who is often an afterthought in the passing game.

This sort of reliability is similar to what Samuel has provided Carolina in critical situations in 2020. Losing him would be a body blow, of that there is little doubt. But if the Panthers could get their hands on a player such as Robinson, it would be a real coup.
