Carolina Panthers must act fast to land Deshaun Watson

How can the Carolina Panthers pull this off?
It is going to take some considerable sacrifices from the Carolina Panthers to secure Deshaun Watson. They don’t have much in the way of draft capital in 2021, so any potential package might involve some prominent roster members to further sweeten the deal.
Even that might not be enough.
Watson is worth the king’s ransom coming Houston’s way if they eventually grant Watson’s wish. But whether the quarterback is worth it will ultimately come down to the Texans’ demands and what Scott Fitterer and Matt Rhule are willing to give up.
It’s hard to envisage this trade without Christian McCaffrey being involved. The All-Pro running back is one of the NFL’s best despite playing just three games in 2020 due to injury and considering how much he is beloved by the Panthers fanbase, this will be a franchise-altering call to make.
If, as expected, the Texans do buckle in the days or weeks ahead, it won’t take long for Watson’s new home to be revealed.
That is why it’s imperative for the Panthers to have an offer ready and waiting that has the potential of being accepted, and then it will be up to the player to waive his no-trade clause to make the move happen.
There promises to be plenty of twists and turns to come. But it would be wise for Carolina’s loyal supporters not to get their hopes up.
