4 Panthers who’d benefit most from Deshaun Watson trade
By Dean Jones
D.J. Moore – Carolina Panthers WR
If D.J. Moore is playing well with some less than stellar quarterback distribution coming his way, then imagine what the wide receiver could do with Deshaun Watson under center.
The former first-round pick’s chemistry issues with Teddy Bridgewater were there for all to see throughout the campaign despite the player going over 1,000 yards once again. But the prospect of him linking up with the Houston Texans signal-caller is a mouth-watering one.
Moore is right on the cusp of being elite. His route-running came on a significant amount in 2020 and his ability to make big plays brought some memorable moments throughout the campaign.
Getting a prolific partner such as Robby Anderson alongside him saw the duo become one of the NFL’s best tandems and their 5-11 record had nothing to do with their level of production.
The Carolina Panthers are only going to get better under Matt Rhule. Moore is a huge focal point in any success that comes their way – hopefully sooner rather than later – and if the wideout had the benefit of an elite player like Watson putting him in better positions, his numbers could go through the roof.
Watson was dismayed beyond belief when the Texans traded away DeAndre Hopkins during the 2020 offseason. A move to Carolina would give him two genuine No. 1 receivers to work with, which would be an enticing proposition that might make all the difference.
