Panthers 2021 Draft: 4 studs from Day 3 at the Senior Bowl
By Dean Jones
Mark Webb – CB (Georgia)
Although he will never be considered among the top defensive back prospects entering the 2021 NFL Draft this year, Mark Webb made his presence felt on the final day of Senior Bowl practice and may have ensured more than a couple of teams think twice about waiting to take their chances on the player once all the picks are in on the undrafted market.
Webb looked accomplished in coverage against some top talent during one-on-one drills. He has a good nous for knowing where the receivers are at all times and if he carries this into gameday in Mobile, Alabama, it is going to be another massive confidence boost.
He made a successful conversion from a wide receiver during his time with the Bulldogs. Webb has a nice size at 6-foot-2 and has a lot of other physical traits that should ensure he gets a shot at forging a career at the next level.
The cornerback has been one of the stars of practice across the three days and the Carolina Panthers might be looking for reinforcements in this area if they decide not to bring back Corn Elder or Rasul Douglas before free agency.
There is still much work to do from Webb’s perspective. But if his encouraging displays during practice are any indication, the prospect might only be scratching the surface regarding what he’s capable of.
