Mike Remmers – OT

  • 2020 team – Kansas City Chiefs

Mike Remmers didn’t exactly pull up any trees last time he was with the Carolina Panthers. The offensive lineman was with the organization for almost three years before moving on to the Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants, enjoying mixed success, to put it mildly.

However, a surprise move to the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs last year seems to have given Remmers a new lease of life. The Oregon State product didn’t give up a single sack in 704 regular-season snaps, conceding four penalties on his way to an eye-catching 70.4 grade from Pro Football Focus.

Remmers has continued this strong play for the Chiefs in the postseason, providing assured edge protection for stud quarterback Patrick Mahomes as Kansas City secured a second-straight AFC Championship.

Quite the rise back to prominence for a player who many wrote off before competitive action began.

Whether the Chiefs will have enough in the way of salary-cap space to keep Remmers around in 2021 remains to be seen.

However, this is an area where the Panthers need to strengthen in no uncertain terms. So giving the tackle one more shot to prove himself in Carolina isn’t the worst idea in the world by any stretch of the imagination.
