Houston Texans

This was probably the easiest one on the list, by a comfortable margin. The Houston Texans are at war with their franchise player and it will probably result in arguably the biggest trade in NFL history this offseason.

Deshaun Watson has suffered one broken promise too many and has formally handed in a trade requested after weeks of speculation. The front office stated they aren’t looking to move the signal-caller at this juncture. But the longer this situation plays out, the less they’re going to get for an elite talent who is just entering his prime.

Players like Watson don’t become available for trade every day. There are probably 30 teams in the league who’d be better off with the former Clemson star under center and although Houston is going to get a king’s ransom for the player, who they get to replace him won’t be half as good.

This is a situation that the Carolina Panthers will be monitoring closely. No doubt discussions have already taken place between new general manager Scott Fitterer and head coach Matt Rhule, with owner David Tepper’s desires for a franchise-changer at the position another strong element to this saga that shouldn’t be overlooked.

Fans of Houston sports have had it rough of late. There was the Astros scandal, James Harden’s trade to the Brooklyn Nets, and now they face the prospect of losing both Watson and stud defensive lineman JJ Watt in the same offseason.
