Another veteran quarterback who might be on the chopping block this offseason is Jimmy Garoppolo. The San Francisco 49ers are rumored to be looking at a possible trade for Kirk Cousins from the Minnesota Vikings, which would see a possible reunion between the player and head coach Kyle Shanahan.

However the Niners approach this, the writing might be on the wall for Garoppolo. The player hasn’t exactly set the world on fire during his time with the franchise, with injury problems hampering his ability to make any sort of impression in 2020.

Garroppolo started just eight games this season and is owed $48.3 million in base salary over the final two years of his deal. Getting a viable suitor in the trade market will be difficult if San Francisco goes in this particular direction and the Carolina Panthers need to give this more than a second thought if it comes up for discussion.

The player does have a 24-8 record as a starter, which is the main thing he has going for him at this juncture.

This has come with 8,046 passing yards, 51 touchdowns, and 26 interceptions. But although some would say Garappolo is a winner who represents an upgrade on what Carolina has, it is simply too much of a gamble to take with the finances involved and the compensation the Niners would want in return.
