Veterans gravitate to a good QB

The Buccaneers had plenty of talent on their roster last season. But the erratic Jameis Winston could only get them to 7-9 despite throwing for 5,109 yards and 30 touchdowns.

This had plenty to do with the 30 interceptions Winston gave away, which forced Tampa to go in a different direction in a move that has completely altered the landscape of the franchise.

Tom Brady’s proven quality and experience made them better from the moment he joined the franchise. He gave everybody a lift and brought a winning mentality to an organization that has often flattered to deceive.

Players gravitate to this. Veterans joined on the cheap knowing that they had a legitimate chance of attaining a Super Bowl thanks to Brady’s presence, which clearly benefits them and the team in pursuit of their overall goal.

The Carolina Panthers are looking for something similar this offseason. This might not be a Brady in terms of accolades, but if the decision-makers can acquire an upgrade on Teddy Bridgewater in free agency, via a trade, or during the 2021 NFL Draft, it is going to give their chances of progression a huge shot in the arm.

Finding the right person under center isn’t easy. But it’s been a while since the Panthers got anything in the way of consistent production from their signal-caller and if they want to make the most out of a talented young group while they still can, being bold this offseason is the only way to go.
