3 reasons Orlando Brown makes a ton of sense for Panthers

Orlando Brown is looking for a way out of the Baltimore Ravens this offseason, and trading for the offensive lineman makes a ton of sense for the Carolina Panthers.
If the Carolina Panthers are looking for a long-term solution at left tackle this offseason, then one may just be available on the trade market. According to multiple reports, Orlando Brown has formally requested a trade from the Baltimore Ravens as he looks to be a blindside protector moving forward, something the organization cannot offer him at this juncture once Ronnie Stanley returns from injury.
This is sure to bring a significant amount of interest in the former third-round pick, who has grown in stature with every passing year. Brown is a commanding presence blocking on the edge and made a smooth transition to left tackle once Staley was forced to miss the rest of the 2020 season.
Scott Fitterer’s claim that the Panthers will be in on every deal has brought more speculation than ever before – particularly in regards to a new quarterback. However, there will be no point in bringing a franchise signal-caller to Carolina if the protection is anything like what we saw this season.
Brown ticks all the boxes. He is consistent, young, and has the ability to get even better in the coming years. The price to acquire him could be steep, but if the Ravens are fielding offers then the least Carolina should be doing is putting in a call.
With that being said, let’s take a look at three reasons why Brown makes a ton of sense for the Panthers.
Reason No. 1
Carolina Panthers position of need
To say this is a position of need for the Carolina Panthers would be something of an understatement. Russell Okung managed just seven games due to various injuries following his trade from the Los Angeles Chargers prior to the 2020 campaign, with the likes of Trenton Scott, Greg Little, and Michael Schofield not doing enough to get any sort of chance of occupying the left tackle spot long-term.
Brown would change all that in an instant. He would provide stability to Carolina’s blindside protection not seen since the days of Jordan Gross and providing the Panthers extend Taylor Moton, it would give whoever is under center with a bookend presence that might end up being one of the NFL’s best.
