Teddy Bridgewater moves to the Texans

Deshaun Watson‘s desire for a trade away from the Houston Texans isn’t going away anytime soon. This could eventually become a real stand-off between the quarterback and the organization, who have been less than accommodating regarding the player’s request to be dealt.

The Carolina Panthers would no doubt move heaven and earth to get Watson. But it’s going to come with an astronomical cost that might jeopardize their current rebuild.

Players like Watson don’t become available every day – and certainly not at the peak of their powers. Paying a premium is a given at this stage and whether Carolina has the capital to tempt the Texans is highly debatable.

However, if they managed to get some sort of package in place that included Teddy Bridgewater, it would be a franchise-altering move that would see expectations reached a level not seen in Carolina since Cam Newton was in his prime.

Considering that the Panthers are calling other teams regarding the availability of other quarterbacks, they may have already decided that the asking price is simply too steep for Watson at this stage of their rebuild.

Any deal with the Texans has to include Bridgewater for financial purposes alone, with multiple first-round picks, a talented defender, and maybe even a mid-round selection next year thrown in to further sweeten the package.
