4 trades that could see Teddy Bridgewater leave the Panthers

Teddy Bridgewater goes back to the Saints
The New Orleans Saints are gearing up for the retirement of Drew Brees, who recently restructured his contract to the veterans’ minimum that all-but ends his time with the franchise after a glittering career that will eventually end up with a Pro Football Hall of Fame selection.
Sean Payton now has a big decision to make. Does he take a chance on Taysom Hill and Jameis Winston leading the Saints moving forward, or does he explore other alternatives that can ensure there is no loss in momentum?
Should New Orleans go with the latter, then Teddy Bridgewater is a name that will enter the discussion. He is already familiar with the scheme and personnel from his previous time on the team, which saw the quarterback go 5-0 in Brees’ absence through injury in 2019 that convinced the Carolina Panthers to pick him up in free agency last year.
Bridgewater was a popular member of the locker room who could slot in right away. New Orleans seems to be tailormade for his style of play and even though the Panthers won’t want to help an NFC South rival, if they could squeeze a draft pick or two out of the deal then it’s worth considering.
One potential problem regarding any potential trade in this scenario is the Saints’ financial complications. They are projected to be $74.5 million over the cap currently, which means some serious sacrifices need to be made to keep them competitive.
