Tavon Young – CB

  • 2020 team – Baltimore Ravens

Our first targeted player is Tavon Young, who’s currently entering his fifth season with the Baltimore Ravens. the cornerback was only able to play in two games in 2020 due to a knee injury that he suffered. He also missed the entire 2019 campaign with another problem that kept him off the field.

Since joining Baltimore, Young has appeared in 33 games, starting in 17 of them. He did not start in a game this past season and started against the Atlanta Falcons late in the 2018 campaign.

During his career so far, Young has deflected 13 passes and caught three interceptions.

Young has not gotten the opportunity to play a lot because of his injuries, and he could need a change of scenery. Luckily for him, he could reunite with his former Temple head coach with the Carolina Panthers if a deal can be worked out that pleases both parties.

Young is a veteran corner that could thrive with playing time in Carolina if he is healthy enough. In 2016, Rhule said young was “one of the most well-prepared rookies they’ve ever had.”

He also credited Young with being a hard worker and someone who takes notes. He sounds like a Rhule kind of player, doesn’t he?

However, the Panthers could only get Young if they choose to offer up a trade to the Ravens, or they could sign him if he’s waived. His salary for next season is $2.65 million, while his 2022 base is $5.8 million.

The Panthers’ secondary is relatively young and could use some veteran leadership. Young’s potential to come in and be a starting corner if he’s ready is there for all to see.

If the Panthers have the cap space, then they could look at acquiring Young.
