Trevon Moehrig – S (TCU)

There doesn’t appear to be a great deal of confidence in Tre Boston and Juston Burris becoming a successful safety tandem next season or beyond. The veteran duo just didn’t match the level required and it could see a fresh young face selected to compensate for their deficiencies early in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Trevon Moehrig is a potential stud who has it all.

His prowess as a ballhawk during his time at TCU made him one of the country’s most exciting players at the position. The prospect also possesses the sort of athleticism that the Carolina Panthers sought heavily during their recruitment process last year.

Moehrig has a rare gift for reading quarterbacks and takes advantage of this with quick short bursts once he knows where the ball is going. He might not be the most intimidating safety that’s ever stepped onto a field but don’t let that detract from what a difference-maker he is on the backend.

Carolina does have the option of moving Jeremy Chinn back to his preferred position next season, which would leave them short at outside linebacker where the former Southern Illinois star shined as a rookie. But acquiring someone with the talent of Moehrig has the scope to completely change their fortunes and might even see Boston regain the form of old in the process.
