4 good landing spots for Kawann Short after Panthers release
By Dean Jones
Buffalo Bills
There are some obvious ties between Kawann Short and the Buffalo Bills. Head coach Sean McDermott was defensive coordinator of the Carolina Panthers during their sensational 2015 campaign where the interior lineman was one of the league’s best at the position, with general manager Brandon Beane also having a close association with the player.
Buffalo reached the AFC Championship game in 2020 before losing to the Kansas City Chiefs. So it appears they are right on the cusp of something special.
Plenty of former Panthers players helped them wrestle the divisional crown from the New England Patriots and if they could convince Short his future lies with them rather than another contender, it could get them over the hump providing he rids himself of the injury troubles that blighted his final two years in Carolina.
Short deserves the right to pick his next destination after all he gave to the Panther s throughout his glittering career. He could walk right into the Bills and know McDermott’s scheme inside-out having played in it previously, which is another big factor that shouldn’t be overlooked.
The Bills are further along than many people expected when it comes to being legitimate playoff contenders. Short could do a lot worse than linking up with McDermott once again and such a decision may also see the veteran return to something like the form of old.
