Joe Flacco

  • 2020 team – New York Jets

Another solid option for the Carolina Panthers who could offer something is Joe Flacco. The veteran is a Super Bowl winner who spent the 2020 campaign backing up Sam Darnold with the New York Jets and although he went 0-4 as a starter this season, the supporting cast around him couldn’t be classed as stellar by any stretch of the imagination.

Flacco has his obvious flaws, but his arm strength still appears to be there and he’s always been more mobile than one would expect when looking at the player physically.

Much will depend on the finances involved. But Carolina might want to give him a closer look to strengthen their depth.

Will Grier’s future is all-but done in Carolina. And the jury is still well and truly out as to whether P.J. Walker has any sort of future in the NFL heading into the final year of his deal.

Flacco would provide a strong veteran presence and is someone who has been to the very top. There is even the possibility of some quality production from the 2008 first-round pick with better weapons around him, which is sure to entice any quarterback looking for a new start this spring.

There are preferred targets, of that there is little doubt. But if the Panthers are forced to settle for a short-term option then Flacco should be on the shortlist.
