This would be a little bit out there, we admit. But bringing in someone like Ryan Fitzpatrick would ensure the Carolina Panthers had someone waiting in the wings that could come in and immediately make a difference if they go with Teddy Bridgewater under center once again in 2021.

This would be the worst-case scenario for large sections of the fanbase and owner David Tepper, who has made no secret of his desire to get the sort of signal-caller to Carolina that can lead them back into postseason contention.

However, the Panthers would be wise not to jeopardize the good work done during year one of Matt Rhule’s rebuild and if that means sticking with Bridgewater and acquiring a veteran like Fitzpatrick, then so be it.

Besides, it appears that might be a little more “Fitzmagic” left before he hangs up his cleats.

In seven starts for the Miami Dolphins in 2020, Fitzpatrick completed 68.5 percent of his passes for 2,091 yards, 13 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. His leadership ability mentoring Tua Tagovailoa was noticeable and might come in handy if Bridgewater is traded and Carolina drafts a potential franchise quarterback of the future.

It doesn’t appear as if Fitzpatrick is ready for retirement just yet. So providing other changes are made on the depth chart, it’s an option worth considering at the very least.
