In an ideal world, the Carolina Panthers can get Curtis Samuel tied down to a long-term deal. But the wide receiver is going to be a hot commodity in free agency and might welcome the prospect of a larger role elsewhere with a big payday to boot.

With Brandon Zylstra and Pharoh Cooper also out of contract and unlikely to be brought back, it leaves the Panthers with D.J. Moore, Robby Anderson, and undrafted free-agent Omar Bayless as their main weapons in the passing game.

Moore and Anderson became one of the NFL’s most productive duos in 2020 and could be set for bigger things with a most consistent quarterback distributing the football next season. Bayless also comes with a high amount of upside providing he returns to full health following a severe knee injury that held him out for the entirety of his rookie campaign.

A couple more additions would be welcome. Someone with the talent of Demarcus Robinson from the Kansas City Chiefs could come in and make an instant contribution, with new general manager Scott Fitterer sure to take a good look at David Moore from his former team when looking for reinforcements in free agency.

If the Panthers could get both of these on top of everything else, it would more than compensate for Samuel’s expected departure.
