Andre Cisco – Syracuse

If the Carolina Panthers wait until the later rounds to pick up a valuable prospect that could end up being a long-term starter at safety, then Andre Cisco should come into the discussion. The Syracuse star was a magnet for locating the football in the 24 games he played at the college level, which resulted in 13 interceptions and 14 passes defended during a short space of time.

This ability to make plays happen in crucial moments is always a hot commodity and one that should ensure Cisco becomes a viable day two option in the 2021 NFL Draft. His athletic traits are superb and he plays with the sort of physicality that’s hard not to love.

One area that does need some coaching up where Cisco is concerned is in coverage. Some analysts are concerned about his discipline due to always aiming for a splash play rather than locking up his man, which is a feast or famine way to operate and one that would get punished severely in the NFL.

Run support is another area that needs some fine-tuning, especially achieving the right sort of angles. Cisco’s technique isn’t what it should be for a starting-caliber player at the position and there is also a lower leg injury concern that needs more investigation.

That being said, there is plenty of scope for growth where Cisco is concerned. So it would be a huge surprise if he didn’t end up bringing his game on a significant amount in the pros.
