4 ways Deshaun Watson would transform the Carolina Panthers
By Dean Jones
Game-changing ability
The Carolina Panthers were spoiled over the years with such a game-changing player under center in Cam Newton. Their former franchise player revolutionized the team from the moment he was taken No. 1 overall in 2011 out of Auburn and although things ended on a sour note, the dual-threat weapon will always be remembered as one of their greatest-ever.
Not having this for the best part of three years has hurt the Panthers.
Kyle Allen and Will Grier hardly set the world on fire after Newton got injured in 2019, with Teddy Bridgewater’s limitations there for all to see this season.
This has left Carolina with no real alternative other than to find a better replacement. Deshaun Watson would be exactly that despite the astronomical compensation it’s going to cost and there isn’t anything he cannot do on the field with the ball in his hands.
Watson can make every throw going. His ability on the move is superb and if he needs to get the hard yards running the football, this is something the player can do effortlessly.
Excitement at the quarterback spot is something that opens things up all over the field. There is just no telling how much Watson could improve the Panthers from an offensive standpoint and if they managed to keep hold of their top assets in the process, the sky is the limit.
